Ghastly Stories Of Personal Experiences With The Paranormal Entities

I remember how frightened I was when our father tells us scary stories when I was a kid. He usually does that when the electricity’s out and we’re in the middle of the storm. He will put up a makeshift tent using a blanket with my siblings and I, gathered together inside and how he loves to tell us scary stories before bedtime. I remember how hard it was for me to sleep after, as those ghost stories play over and over in my head. And even when the weather is cold, I am sweating profusely because I was covered in blankets from head-to-toe, and those tiny creaks and shadows of the night make me shiver in fright.

Growing up, I’ve been an avid follower of Magandang Gabi Bayan’s Halloween Special. I always look forward watching Noli De Castro’s melodramatic narration about stories of the haunting of white ladies in schools and dormitories, those frightful black ladies, the beheaded priests, cries in old houses, visions of dead relatives just popping out of nowhere and the eerie experiences of people with paranormal entities.

And my interest with the spiritual world escalated! I spent a lot of time researching about mysterious hauntings, trying to decipher the history and recent updates. My curiosity widened to the extent that I am also into stories and information of angels and demons, orbs, sleep paralysis, incubus, poltergeists, exorcisms, even UFOs, Ouija boards, séances, psychics and a lot more.

In line with Halloween, I made a public post asking for friends and acquaintances to share their scary, or eerie encounters with paranormal entities and here are some of their stories:

Story No. 1  Child’s Play

After namin lumipat noon from the dorm, madalas may maririnig kang naglalakad sa labas ng door. Then may kakatok, eh kapag binuksan mo, wala naman tao.

One time umuwi si partner sa Baguio, tamang may pasok mga kapitbahay namin so ako lang talaga naiwan. Since day off ko, natulog ako, eh nasanay akong matulog ng may ilaw. Tapos super nagga-grasp ako ng air as in nahirapan na talaga ako!

Naisip ko na lang mag-pray. Biglang sumindi ung ilaw, walang tao!

Super scary yun!

Story No. 2 Ghost Abroad

Share ko experience ko kasi until now nahihirapan kong paniwalaan. I was in Jeddah that time living in the accommodation provided ng hospital-employer naming(the house is old na).

My last encounter-time ng Ramadan kaya mahaba ang off namin.

Paulit-ulit!

Scary No. 4 Doppelganger in the House

My 23 month-old son was still an infant when we were living with my in-laws. Mostly, it was just me and him because they are all working.

As soon as hubby arrived from work, I took a shower. He turned the TV on and played with our baby. A few minutes after, I heard him talking with someone on the phone. It was just past 6:00 pm.

As soon as I got out, I asked him if we could buy sweets from the store next door. He said sure, we could just leave the baby with his mom daw. He took the baby from me and walked away from the living room.

I got confused and asked him where he's taking our son. Because as far I know, it was just us. Before he could answer, I opened the door for MIL. I knew it was her because that's the usual time she comes home.

MIL: (still outside) “Grabe ang traffic.”

I turned to hubby and saw his eyes almost gawking.

Hubby: “Who's out there? Don't tell me it's mom”.
Me: “Well, who else?”
Hubby: “No way! You're kidding me!”

MIL emerged from the door and hubby stepped back. She and I were confused and medyo freaked out na rin.

Hubby: “Did you just come in? I saw you walked in- I even talked to you!” (He was seriously freaking out) “You even said you just came from the church service and my sisters are still there!”
MIL: (trying to be calm) “I just arrived but yes, I came from the church and your sisters are there. How'd you know that?”
Hubby: “Because I talked to you! If not, who did I just talk to and who did just go to your room? You heard me!”
Me: “Yes, but I thought you were on the phone!”

I started to feel fear when I realized hubby was just about to hand and leave our baby with the doppelgänger.

That event just fed my paranoia. Ever since I became a mom, I never leave my son alone. Thank God the real mother-in-law came home just in time!

Story No. 5 White Ladies In The Window

First time ko pong naka-encounter ng kwentong kababalaghan. Ano po kasi, kumandidato po ako para sa Student Council po namin eh tamang magpri-present na po ang partido namin ng Monday so nag-over time kami ng practice noong Sabado.

Yung stage, kaharap niya yung Science Building.

So chika-chika kami sa stage.

Hindi yun naka-on the whole time na andun kami sa school.

Grabeng sigawan namin pati yung baklang choreographer!

Story No. 6: Sleep Paralysis

Have you heard of sleep paralysis? I have that. I often get attack 2x a night. Usually, it’s like I want to move from my right to my left side (or the other way around), I thought I did but when I look at myself,  I didn’t move at all.

It escalated when I was in college. Even though my eyes were closed, my mind was awake and suddenly I felt somebody or something was hugging me from behind and I’m having difficulty breathing. And even if I was panicking, I pray The Lord’s Prayer, Hail Mary, Glory Be and Apostles Creed. I observed that it doesn’t work if I just mutter it but IT DOES if I say it in full faith.

My sleep paralysis got worse when one night I was sleeping with a small pillow on my face; I felt someone went on top of me. He has a dark complexion with kinky hair and long fingernails! I’m not sure how I saw him but I am sure I did. I prayed and woke up! I was so terrified that when I went out of the bed I shouted "P.I. ka kung ano ka, hindi ako natatakot sa iyo! Wag mo nang gagawin ulit sakin yun!"

Thank God it didn’t happen again but my sleep paralysis still occurs until now. Good thing my husband and kids are aware of it that they have to wake me up if I sleep talking or praying while eyes closed.

Story No. 7 Paramdam sa 14th Floor

I was with my co-nurses (bale 4 kami) plus yung mga kasabay pa namin. Ang tagal bago nagsara then nung sumara, maya-maya bumukas ulit. Nagbukas-sara yung pinto. Pati yung kasabay namin tila napa-praning yata sa reaction namin.

Gusto sana namin silipin baka may tao kaso walang may lakas loob.

Story No. 8 Aswang

Are Ghosts Real?

Ghosts are among the most widely believed of all the paranormal phenomenon throughout the world. Most people believe in ghosts because of their own personal experiences or because of the stories that had been shared from one person to another or from generations to generations, thus making one believe even if there’s no actual personal encounter.

Many circumstances like the creaking of the floor, candle scent, doors closing, those eerie sounds in the hallways and even the howling of the dogs are automatically associated with ghosts even when there are logical reasons behind the occurrences.

Are ghosts real? Many believe that ghosts are the spirits of those dead that got stuck in the real world because of unfulfilled duties. According to Live Science, “Many are simply convinced that they had experienced something uncanny — something inexplicable, extraordinary, mysterious, or eerie”, which they connect it to ghostly experiences.

Because it has been widely believed phenomenon, there were ghost hunters formed all around the world for the purpose of searching ghostly evidence and to prove the claim of its existence. Many even use methods to detect the spirits' presences including psychics.

And since it is a highly-sensationalized subject, hence the birth of top-grossing horror movies and stories of paranormal activities which a lot of us love to see.

What does the Bible Say about Ghosts?

Is the ghost we are pertaining the same with the Holy Spirit or the Holy Ghost. The answer is NO. They are of different characteristics. Christianity will explain that Holy Spirit is way different from the ghosts that we love to talk about. The Holy Spirit is part of the Holy Trinity, a “person” equal in every way with God the Father, and God the Son. The Holy Ghost is not just an earthy, vague life force but has all the characteristics of God apparent in the Father and the Son.

Now regarding the spiritual realm, the Bible states that “Man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment.” There’s no in-between. Through judgment, it is determined that believer goes to heaven (2 Corinthians 5:6-8; Philippians 1:23) and hell for the unbeliever (Matthew 25:46; Luke 16:22-24).

According to GotQuestions.org “The Bible teaches very clearly that there are indeed spirit beings that can connect with and appear in our physical world. The Bible identifies these beings as angels and demons. Angels are spirit beings who are faithful in serving God. Angels are righteous, good, and holy. Demons are fallen angels, angels who rebelled against God. Demons are evil, deceptive, and destructive".

According to 2 Corinthians 11:14-15, demons masquerade as “angels of light” and as “servants of righteousness.” Appearing as a “ghost” and impersonating a deceased human being definitely seem to be within the power and abilities that demons possess.”

There is no possibility of remaining on earth in spirit form as a “ghost.” Instead, demons will do everything to deceive people and to lead them away from God.

As a Christian, when I started reading the Gospel and consulting God’s Word, I slowed down my interest with the paranormal activities as I was able to learn that the enemy plays our minds and tricks our emotions to fulfill its ultimate goal to mislead, corrupt, destroy and to take away our faith to Jesus.

The devil will use circumstances that shake our faith, instances, and events that will cause us fear and horror that will question our belief. And so we have to strengthen our relationship with Jesus and to contemplate more with His Word. With all the stories shared, one thing is clear; Prayer casts out demons!

God is the Lord of the seen and the unseen. We have the power to fight and rebuke evil through the powerful name of Jesus!

Truth is, we might be curious about the spiritual world. That’s understandable as curiosity is a part of our human nature. BUT if it takes already all your time, divides your attention and it leads you away from seeking the Truth and communicating with God by studying His Word then you should stop.  If you trust the palm readers and the psychics more than the gospel and God’s promises then it is about time to redefine where you stand in your relationship with the Lord. Anything that steals your attention away from God is already an attack of the enemy.

So the next time you are afraid as if you feel an eerie presence near you, just rebuke it and declare that God is your protector, the Creator of heaven and earth and He will cast out all your fears.

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”-- Romans 8:38-39

“We shall be quiet from the fear of evil, for no threatenings of evil can penetrate into the high tower of God”.--- Hannah Whitall Smith

“If you fear God, you really need fear nothing else.”Zac PoonenTweet this quote
