Viral Story: Caitlyn Jenner Breaks The Internet

It seems that women has a penchant for breaking the Internet for several reasons.  First, there was Kim Kardashian with her butt pics, then Madonna followed with her lip locking moment with Drake, and now comes Caitlyn Jenner. Wait, Caitlyn who? For many netizens, they are indeed still unfamiliar with Caitlyn Jenner but they are very familiar with his “ex-name” Bruce Jenner.  The former Bruce Jenner was a an Olympic medallist, Playgirl cover guy, actor, author, and reality TV star in Keeping Up With The Kardashian Show.  He was married to Kris Jenner nee Kardashian for 24 long years.

During the last few months, the once revered decathlon athlete made attention grabbing headlines when he proclaimed that he wanted to be a woman all throughout these years. The cyberworld has witness the transformation of Bruce Jenner as Caitlyn Jenner.  In the Philippines, this kind of story where a famous male celebrity transforming into a woman is no longer new, remember Rustom Padilla who became BB Gandang Hari?

Anyway, the outpour of support for Miss Caitlyn Jenner as she finally reveal herself by landing on the cover of Vanity Fair July 2015 issue has been tremendous so far especially among fellow celebrities.

Even Jessica Lange gave her reaction when comparisons were made on her and Caitlyn Jenner and she said, "That's so wonderful. Well now I'm going to have to look for that picture."

Of course, the story definitely received negative and disgusting remarks coming from Christian fundamentalists, Kardashian haters, right wing supporters, homophobics, and among others. The important thing in this story is the outpouring of support as this is a life changing decision and a very courageous one for Caitlyn Jenner.  You can just imagine for us ordinary mortals how stressful and mindboggling it could be facing the consequences of the transformation.  As of press time, Caitlyn Jenner has broken President Obama’s record by gaining more than 1 million followers in just four hours.  But the most important support that she got was from her mother and Esther Jenner gave one of the most emotionally moving response:

"She is...so much more at ease...It's going to be a struggle for me to get used to the change, but happily so...I'm very happy for him—or her!"

Browsing on Twitter, it is an emotional upheaval for some who were greatly affected with this story, probably because they knew of someone who wanted to do what Caitlyn Jenner did.
