SM Foundation Inc. (SMFI), the social development arm of the SM group of companies, secured two honors from the Public Relations Society of the Philippines on the recently held 55th Anvil Awards last February 28, 2020 at the Manila Hotel. The silver anvil awards were given for SMFI’s outstanding PR program and tools, specifically for their entries “SM Foundation: Spreading #SocialGood” and “Breaking Boundaries for a Better Tomorrow: The SMFI Annual Report 2018.”

Since it started in 1983, SM Foundation has been constantly improving lives and uplifting communities through its numerous corporate social responsibility efforts such as education through scholarship programs and donations of school buildings to public elementary & high schools; health & medical projects like medical missions with a mobile clinic; renovations of hospital activity centers and religious community projects, and farmers’ training programs.

Staying true to its principle of “People Helping People”, SM Foundation recently has turned over the first tranche of its allocated Php 100M donation to the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) to help battle the spread of COVID-19 in the Philippines. Together with Goldiclocks, breads, cakes and pastry products were also delivered to 30 hospitals and medical facilities around the National Capital Region (NCR) in hopes of bringing smiles to the brave and hardworking COVID-19 frontliners. A total of 2,900 buns, 6,200 cakes, and many other pastry products were distributed from March 18 - 20, 2020.

SMFI serves as one of the first responders during calamities by giving immediate assistance to communities in form of medicine and other basic needs.
