SM Intensifies Support for Medical Frontliners vs COVID-19

In an effort to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic, the SM Group through SM Foundation Inc. increased its COVID-19 assistance fund to 170M surpassing its initial 100M allocation.
This is to ensure that medical frontliners are well-armored with personal protective equipments (PPEs) - full protective suits (including for ICU use), face shields, gloves, N95 masks, surgical masks and goggles. As well as raincoats as alternative backup.
Aiming to make it more widely available, additional funds also goes for testing kits. SM has reached out Manila Healthtek Inc.to distribute test kits to government hospitals, once approved for use. SM also provides FDA-approved testing kits sourced from Korea to RITM.
ICU-grade ventilators are also provided to help hospitals manage patients with severe cases.
As of March 27, SM was able to turn-over PPE donations to Philippine General Hospital, Lung Center of the Philippines, Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital, Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM), National Kidney and Transplant Institute, San Lazaro Hospital, East Avenue Medical Center, Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center, Philippine Heart Center, National Children’s Hospital and Rizal Medical Center.
Among other hospitals supported by SM are Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital, Chinese General Hospital, University of the East Ramon Magsaysay (UERM) Memorial Medical Center, Manila Doctors Hospital, University of Sto. Tomas Hospital, Makati Medical Center, The Medical City, Ospital ng Muntinlupa and more.

Meanwhile, several shipments of PPEs are also on their way to provincial hospitals including Rizal, Pampanga, Bataan, Quezon, Pangasinan, Catanduanes,  Cebu, Iloilo, Samar, Tacloban, Surigao del Sur, Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Marawi and Zamboanga.

Other initiatives of the SM Group in response to this crisis are the waived rental of tenants of SM Supermalls nationwide, continued compensation of their employees, and the extension of Emergency Financial Assistance to its frontliners,  security guards and janitorial staff during the period of Enhanced Community Quarantine.
SM remains true to its commitment to be of service to the Filipino public and to the government in ensuring that we all contain and overcome the COVID-19 crisis together.
