Malabon Zoo can be considered an alternative to Manila Zoo if you have already been at the latter countless times. Here, you’d find several animals of the wild similar to what’s usually present in zoos, particularly in the more popular Manila Zoo except of course an elephant in the person err… form of Mali. Speaking of Mali, it’s been the subject of numerous online and offline petitions recently as countless organizations have been recommending the elephant to be transferred to a sanctuary where it can enjoy old age with its own kind.

Going back to Malabon Zoo, there are additional animals present which you won’t find in Manila Zoo including a black bear. There’s also an entertaining monkey which poses for pictures right at the middle of the zoo beside the public canteen with benches. Significantly, a separate lion and tiger open roofed sanctuary with glass paneled walls had been recently built. Other animals include tigers, baboons, deers, reptiles, birds, fishes, and so much more.

But if you have criticized Manila Zoo for poor maintenance, you’re bound to say worse for this zoo. J It’s actually not a public property and it’s privately owned and so maintaining the zoo depends on the owner’s budget as well as donations. Your name will be painted on a mural wall in case you do donate a notable amount. If you can’t, just buy corn cobs by the entrance to feed some of the animals with it. I’ve discovered that not only birds like ostrich eat this but even deers do.

If you’re still interested to drop by, more details are as follows:

Address: 1 Gov. W. Pascual, Barangay Potrero, Malabon, Metro Manila
Entrance fee: Php120
Open from 8 AM to 5:30 PM daily
